Blood Test FAQ’s

Are the fingerstick blood tests as accurate as the blood tests using more blood?
The lab we work with exclusively uses a CLIA/CAP accredited lab that perform extensive validation on each assay to meet federal CLIA requirements. All our tests have a 95%-99% correlation coefficient when compared with standard venous blood draw results. We independently perform in house testing against Labcorp and Quest on a quarterly basis to monitor and ensure our lab partners are meeting these standards.

How do I view my test results?
When your report is ready for viewing, you will receive an email letting you know your user portal has been updated. You can access your report at any time by logging in and scrolling down to "Your Reports".

Do you ship everywhere in the US and Canada?
Yes! We service all of Canada and the U.S., excluding New York. New York is excluded due to laws there that prevent any outside lab to provide blood tests. This is an outdated and ridiculous law that obviously benefits the local laboratories, but we must comply.

What Biomarkers are tested?
The at-home blood kit covers a comprehensive range of biomarkers, categorized for a thorough assessment of your health.

**Lipid and Cardiovascular Markers**: ApoB, ApoA1, HDL-C, LDL-C, Triglycerides, Total Cholesterol, and various ratios including TG:HDL-C, TC:HDL, and ApoB:ApoA1. These markers help evaluate cholesterol levels, lipid profiles, and cardiovascular risk.

**Metabolic Health**: HbA1c, Fasting Insulin, and Homocysteine are essential for assessing glucose regulation, metabolic function, and risk factors for metabolic disorders.

**Inflammation**: The hsCRP (high-sensitivity C-reactive protein) is a key indicator of inflammation in the body, which is often linked to chronic diseases.

**Hormonal Health**: This category includes DHEA-S and Testosterone (total) for males, Estradiol and FSH for females, along with Cortisol and the Testosterone:Cortisol ratio. These markers provide insights into hormonal balance and stress levels.

**Thyroid Function**: TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) measures thyroid function, critical for metabolic and overall well-being.

**Nutritional Status**: 25-(OH) Vitamin D and Ferritin are included to evaluate your vitamin D levels and iron stores, which are important for bone health and oxygen transport, respectively.

This wide array of biomarkers offers a thorough evaluation of your overall health, from cardiovascular risk to hormonal and metabolic function.

What is the best way of doing the fingerstick to ensure success?
When you get your test kit, you can on-demand hop on a zoom with a nurse who will guide you through the process to ensure success. Make sure you are well hydrated and fasting for more accurate results. You will also have better blood flow if you do some exercise prior (jumping jacks, for example) to get your blood flowing. Finally, make sure you are in a warm (not cold) environment. Hop on a video call with our nurse, and this will streamline your process. Here is a step by step process:

1. Warm up your hands before doing the lancet by rubbing them together and washing under warm water.
2. Before and after doing the lancet squeeze the blood from the bottom of the finger towards the top to push the blood out of the lancet incision.
3. I recommend booking a free virtual phlebotomist session next time - it's a 15-minute Zoom call where a member of our team can guide you as you take your test. You can book it here - https://calendly.com/collection-success/siphox-health-sample-collection-success

What if I did it wrong?
Please send in the test and we will still try to use it to obtain your biomarkers. If it does not work, the lab will ship you a new kit immediately.

How is this different from the blood tests my doctor does?
Our test offers a more comprehensive and proactive approach compared to the standard yearly physical. While the annual physical often focuses on basic health markers, our test includes functional testing and evaluates additional biomarkers such as DHEA-S, cortisol, and ferritin, which are rarely assessed in traditional western medical care. These markers give deeper insights into hormonal balance, stress response, and nutritional health, allowing us to be more proactive in identifying potential health issues early on. By incorporating functional testing, we aim to uncover underlying imbalances that can help optimize long-term wellness, which the standard physical may overlook.

How long before I get my results?
Usually 5-7 days and your results will be on your online portal. You will receive an email about how to access your portal after you submit the test.

Are my results private?
None of your data is shared to anyone outside of your portal. Your data is held privately, and is not accessible by insurance companies or anyone besides your ordering doctor without your permission.

Are there any restrictions before the blood test?
We prefer you do your test first thing in the morning while you are fasting.
